Father's Poems Read at Riles
Funeral services for Talbot B. Aldrich, 89, father of Federal Judge Bailey Aldrich, were held today at the First Church in Boston.
Aldrich, who died Saturday at his home, 59 Mt Vernon St., was a yachtsman, former state representative, and aide-de-camp to two Governors.
He was the son of Thomas Bailey Aldrich, poet and author, and a former executive of Walter Baker & Co.
Rev. Duncan Howlett read two poems by Mr. Aldrich's father. One was Sonnet No. 28, entitled "I Vex Me Not With Brooding on Years." The other was "Resurgam."
Ushers were Charles Aldrich Winchester, Scarsdale, N.Y.; Gordon Winchester, New York; Jerome Preston, Hingham; Richard Wait, Boston; and Dr. Thomas V. Huntoon, Beverly Farms.
Represented at the services were the Massachusetts Memorial Hospitals, of which he was a trustee for more than 50 years.
He had served also as president of the Massachusetts Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and was graduated from Harvard in 1892. He was a member of Blue Hill Lodge. A.F. & A.M.
Besides his son, Judge Aldrich, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eleanor (Little) Aldrich; and two grandsons Jonathan and David Aldrich.
Private burial services were held at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

He was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives from the 4th Norfolk District from 1918 to 1921. He was a member of the Harvard Club of Boston and New York, and the Harvard Travelers Club of Boston. Maj Aldrich was a former president of the Sons of the Revolution and was a member of the Union Club. He was a 32d degree Mason and a member of Blue Hill Lodge, A.F. & A.M. Besides his son, he leaves two grandsons, Jonathan and David Aldrich.
