Richard Donald Babek (Rick) 58 of Burns Flat, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Rick was born, June 17, 1962 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is the adopted son of Leon and Tina Black Babek. He graduated from Granite High School Class of 1980. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mangum, Oklahoma.

Rick played basketball and baseball in high school; he attended Altus Jr. College and went to a broadcasting school in Dallas, Texas. He ran the basketball time clock at Granite for several years.

Rick was an avid sports fan of really all sports. He was a phenomenal guitarist. He had a band, “The Rick Babek Band”, and played with other bands as well. He absolutely loved his music. He had many fans, he loved playing for them and they loved listening to him.
Rick worked for the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes in Clinton/Elena, Oklahoma at the time of his passing.

Rick is Pottawatomie and Osage and a descendant of the Coshehe-Tomey families of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He belongs to the Sun Clan and the late Richard Luttrell named him ME-KE-WAH-THIAN-KAH, which means Playful Sun Carrier. He was survived by his younger sister Jodie K. Revard of Pawhuska, OK and was preceded in life by his younger brother Matt “Buffy” Revard. Rick is preceded in death by his parents Leon and Tina Babek.

Rick is survived by his sister Donna Knight and husband Dan of Clinton, OK, his brother Kenny Babek and wife Fran of Sentinel, OK, nephew Brad Babek, nieces Chanda Shepherd, Brooke Dodd, Kelsey Williams, great nephews Creek Williams and Border Dodd, great nieces Chaley Shepherd, Kenlee Dodd and Cheridan Shepherd, and numerous cousins, family members and friends.

A Private Family Graveside Memorial Service for Rick will be announced at a later date.

Rick’s final resting place will be at Rock Cemetery in Granite, Oklahoma.
