Obituary of Norma S. Jennings
Norma S. Jennings, age 87, of Sherwood went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 26, 2020. She was born in Ola, Arkansas to parents Noble F. Strait and Flossie M. Strait on October 11, 1933. After graduating from Little Rock High School Norma attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, where she met and married the love of her life, Jimmy Dale Jennings, in 1953.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Boyce and Helen Jennings of Augusta, Arkansas. Left to cherish Norma’s memory is her husband of 67 years, Jimmy Jennings; a son Jimmy Jennings, Jr. (Shelley); a daughter Susan Bowers (Mike) and grandson, Eric Bowers (fiancée Molly Kyle), all of Sherwood.
Norma spent most of her life involved with the First Baptist Church in Sherwood, where she served as the church secretary for 50 years as well as the organist for over 20 years. Norma also spent most of that time working with the church youth.
Norma and Jimmy spent over 60 years as U.A. Foundation members and they never missed a football or basketball game.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19th at First Baptist Church, 701 Country Club Road, Sherwood, Arkansas. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Ricky Lee and Pastor Dennis Smith officiating.
