Mr. Joe Bill Adams, 84, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday evening, December 9, 2020, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

He was born in Surry County on September 25, 1936, to the late Howard Adams and Versie Haymore Adams Gammons.

Mr. Adams bravely served in the United States Army for three years.

Mr. Adams was a retired auto mechanic.

He was a loving husband, father, friend, and neighbor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary “Jean” Adams; a son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Sally Adams; sisters and brothers-in-law: Betty and Mike Simmons, Frankie and Johnny Cox, and Brenda Quesinberry; a sister-in-law, Mary Leigh Adams; several nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Gammons; a brother, Burney Adams; his step-father, Andrew Gammons; his step-sister, and four step-brothers.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, there will not be any formal services at this time.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
