Jean Elizabeth Young, 93, of Manchester died November 25, 2011.
Services were held Tuesday, November 29, at St Mary Catholic Church in Manchester with Rev. Richard Gaul officiating.
Jean was born November 15, 1918 in Manchester, the daughter of Frank L. and Ethyl (Morgan) Barnd. She graduated from St. Xavier's High School. In 1938 she was united in marriage to Noble "Bud" Young at St Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester. Jean was a homemaker and secretary for Bill Francois and Norm and Randy Fiddelke Real Estate businesses.
Jean was a member of St Mary Catholic Church in Manchester and Catholic Daughters of America: volunteering at St Mary's for many years where the kids loved her. Family was very important to her, enjoying the grandchildrens activities and spending time with them. She enjoyed traveling, cherished lifelong friendships, and was a lady of great hospitality.
Jean is survived by three children, Linda (William) Appleby of Des Moines, Dan (Sue) Young of Bettendorf, and Jim (JoAnn) Young of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren and special friends, Myrna Milroy and Barb and Randy Fiddelke.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ethyl Barnd; her husband, Noble Young.
