Twila Kinghorn Ferrin
Twila Kinghorn Ferrin passed away peacefully in Provo. UT on Friday. July 29, 2005, of causes incident to age. She lived to be 96 years old. Twila was born May 28, 1909 in Lewisville. ID, to David and Eliza Dorcy Brian Kinghorn. She was the youngest of seven children. five sisters and one brother. She grew up and attended schools in Lewisville and Idaho Falls. ID and graduated from high school in Gridley. CA. She attended Ricks College. BYU and University of Idaho, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education.
Twila taught school in Ucon and Malad, ID and at Midway High School near Lewisville. ID where several of her nieces and nephews were her students. She also taught in Pocatello. ID. Hermiston. OR. and Boise. ID.
Twila married Philip S. Ferrin July 16, 1951, in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Vallejo. CA. where she lived for 50 years. She was never able to have children of her own. but has been the favorite aunt of many generations of nieces and nephews. She was well loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
She was active in the LDS Church serving as ward organist for almost 30 years, in various callings in the Relief Society, and on two stake MIA Boards. She also served for 25 years in the Seminary Program of the church in the Vallejo area as teacher and Area Coordinator.
She had an immense love for travel and toured extensively throughout the world. Her talents included music, cooking, hand work, story telling, and making everyone who knew her feel welcome and cared for.
In October. 2000, Twila moved to Provo, UT to be closer to family, and has lived at The Courtyard at Jamestown for the past year where she made many friends.
Twila is survived by nine nieces and four nephews and countless great, great-great, and three-times-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil, who passed away in January 1990; her parents, brother and sisters, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom were waiting patiently for her to join them.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4. 2005 at 1 1:00 am at the Lakeside 10th Ward Chapel 2225 W. 620 North, Provo. UT. The viewing for family and friends will be at the church prior to the funeral services, between 9:30 and 10:45 am. Arrangements are under the direction of Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center Street, Provo, UT.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 5, 2005, at 12 noon , at the Gridley - Biggs Cemetery, 2023 Highway 99, Gridley, CA with arrangements under the direction of Gridley -Block Funeral Chapel 679 Ohio St. Gridley, CA.
