Duane Roberts Ford, 76, returned to Heaven from his Bountiful, Utah home on 20January 2020.

Duane was born in Centerville, Utah on 26 June 1933 to Rulon and Arvilla Ford. He was the fifth of their nine children and raised on the family's Centerville farm.

Duane attended Davis High School, Utah State University and the University of Utah, then served as a missionary in the Uruguay Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Afterward, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and was sent to Germany. Upon his return, Duane returned to school and earned his degree from the University of Utah.

Soon after, Duane married his sweetheart, Lora Barker, on 10 September 1959. The couple moved to Seattle, Washington for three years. There, their first three children were born. Duane and Lora then settled in Bountiful where remained and had six more children.

Duane was much more than a list of accomplishments and life events! To his family, he was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, neighbor, and friend. He was the kind of person who would phone, just to chat or appear on your doorstep with just-picked, fresh apricots. As our grandpa, he always gave the best hugs! Duane was the biggest cheerleader at sporting events, graduations, dance recitals, and choir concerts.

He liked to watch the Utes and Jazz teams, but more important than any professional team were those on which his kids or grandkids played. And with nine kids, thirty-one grandkids and seven great-grandkids, Duane was never without a team to cheer!

Duane loved anything musical, and was often moved to tears while listening to "The Impossible Dream" or watching The Sound of Music and The Scarlet Pimpernel.

He was thrifty and knew where all the best gas prices could be found.

He also craved adventures, loved to travel to new destinations or discover some new adventure on the way to visit his family.

Duane's hard work ethic matched his level of generosity. He loved people, always wore a smile on his face and offered a hug or a kind word. He wore his pride and love of his family in every smile and we dearly miss him and anticipate the day we will be reunited.

In addition to his parents, Duane was predeceased by his siblings, Rosemary Bloomfield (1985), Joseph G. Ford (2011) and Walton D. Ford (1954) and two grandchildren, Shannon Ford and Shaun Ford.

Left to cherish his memory are Duane's wife, Lora Ford, of sixty years; children, Barrett (Jodi) Ford, Jerrold (Michelle) Ford, Jolynn (Bart) Reese, Karalee (Steve) Alvillar, Kimberly Ford, Martin (Sheryl) Ford, Nanette (Kim W.) Reid, Ruston (Monica) Ford, and Walton (Julie) Ford; a host of grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
