Marilyn Small, 88, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at her home in Sioux City.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. Scott Quires will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. Social distancing and wearing a mask will be required. Services will be uploaded to the funeral home website following the services. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron.

Marilyn Jean Davis was born January 29, 1932 in Meckling, South Dakota, the daughter of Albert and Icle (Hollingsworth) Davis. She grew up in Meckling and attended school in Vermillion, South Dakota.

She was united in marriage to Clayton “Murph” Small on July 10, 1950 in Luverne, Minnesota. They made their home in Akron. Marilyn worked at Sheehan Produce in Akron and later at Otis Radio in Hawarden, Iowa. They moved to Sibley, Iowa, where they lived until moving to Sioux City. Marilyn worked at Olson Sporting Goods and later at Artisan Press until her retirement. Murph passed away December 18, 2007.

Marilyn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Akron. She was also active for many years in the Order of Eastern Star in Akron and Sioux City. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, and playing cards. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.

Survivors include her 4 children: Annette (Mike) Malisch of Sioux City, IA, Tom (Barb) Small of Dakota Dunes, SD, Karen (Ray) Eblen of Salix, IA, and Joe (Angie) Small of Akron, IA; her grandchildren: Missy (Gene) Kolar, Chris (Melisa) Hoesing, Tony (Krystal Rice) Hoesing, Jeff (Samantha) Hoesing, Jana Small, Jennifer (Adam) Zehring, Jared Small, Christy (Todd) Beller, Trevor Small, Erin (Darin) Marks, and Samantha Mohr; numerous great grandchildren; her sister, Helen Horton of Fresno, CA; her in laws: Jim (Edie) Small of Akron, Gayland (Selma) Small of Akron, Jo Small of Akron, Kay Small of Dunlap, IL, and Ramona Govig of Atlantic, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Icle Davis; her husband, Clayton “Murph” Small; and her siblings: Beulah Knutson, Dale Davis, Earl Davis, Florence Heier, and Mel Davis.
