Mrs. Billie June McClaren, age 83 of Bolivar, passed away at 6:30am Sunday, October 9, 2011 at her home in Bolivar after a lingering illness.

She was born on May 30, 1928 in Chicago, IL the daughter of William Edward Kingsley and Pearl Lena (Evans) Kingsley and grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado.

She met Gene McClaren on a blind date arranged by their friends, and they were married in Grand Junction, Colorado, on December 18, 1948. They moved to Kansas then later settled in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they raised their two children and spent the majority of their life before retiring and moving to Bolivar, Missouri.

In Utah she was a full-time homemaker and active in her church life. She loved children and was a Sunday School teacher and frequent Vacation Bible School teacher. When her youngest child was in high school, she decided to go to work outside her home. She worked at The Learning Tree Daycare and Preschool. She loved the children she cared for, and she worked her way up to Assistant Director before retiring.

While living in Bolivar, Billie was an avid supporter of the Polk County Humane Society and a founding member of the original Heritage Baptist Church. She was currently a member of the Grace Fellowship Baptist Church West of Bolivar, Missouri.

Surviving is her husband Gene W. McClaren of Bolivar, Missouri, one son; Rev. Steve Douglas and his wife Carol McClaren of Enid, Oklahoma; one daughter; Denise McClaren of Seattle, Washington, two sisters; Donna Burdick of Tillamook, Oregon and Tommye Lee Paddock of Moab, Utah, two granddaughters; Lynna Clark of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Miste Curtis of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, two great-grandchildren; Mark Curtis and Katelynn Clark. And always a part of her family, various and numerous dogs and cats.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri with Reverend Duncan Meadows officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri.
