David graduated from Townsend Schools in 1949 and later graduated from Miami University in 1953. He later married the love of his life, Barbara “Jane” (Richards) Barr on June 30, 1956 following a stint in the U.S. Army in the post Korean War Era where he served with an elite Artillery Nuclear Weapon Group working with an Atomic Cannon, and she preceded him in death in 2016.
Mr. Barr had worked as a Production Planner for Westinghouse and ABB for 39 years prior to his retirement. David was a member of the College Avenue United Methodist Church where he had served on various committees and volunteered in the office. He was a member of the Exchange Club, the East Central Indiana Old Car Club (having owned 2, 1940’s Vintage Buicks) and enjoyed playing pinochle. David also enjoyed telling a good story.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Barr-Vellenga (James), Muncie and Michelle Suzanne Weber (Mathew), Mesa, Arizona; four grandchildren, John and Katherine Vellenga and Cameron & Courtney Weber.
He is preceded in death by his Parents
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday December 8, 2020, 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Karen Bray officiating. Cremated remains will be inurned in a Niche at the Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Parson Mortuary Cremation Center is entrusted with these arrangements.
Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary Cremation Center on Tuesday December 8, 2020 from 3:00 P.M. until time of service.
