Cora Carpenter, Homemaker 83, of Hillhaven Health Care of Gastonia, formerly of Lincolnton, died May 13, 1990, at Hillhaven. Funeral is 3:30 p.m. today at Bethel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Charles Leavitt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Warlick Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. Carpenter, a homemaker, was born in Haywood County, daughter of the late John and Addie Mull Burrell. She was the widow of Spargo Carpenter.

Survivors are her son, Jack Carpenter; brother Kelly Burrell of Gastonia; sisters, Mrs. Macie Hamilton, Mrs. Rena Penley, both of Gastonia, Mrs. Ola Parker of Charlotte, Mrs. Elsie Rawlston of Knoxville, Tenn.; stepson, Keith Carpenter; stepdaughters, Mrs. Frances McAlister of Dallas, Mrs. Rachel Rhyne; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; seven stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat- grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to Bethel Lutheran Church building fund, Route 4, Lincolnton, N.C., 28092.
