R.E. Walker was born on July 29, 1930 to the late Frank and Lillie Pearl Walker. He was the oldest child of nine siblings.

He was a graduate of Pittsburg ISD. Mr. Walker served from 1949 to 1953 in the U.S. Army. He received a welding certificate from Texas College. He was employed by Good Year Tire until his retirement in 1993.

Mr. Walker accepted Christ at an early age at Jackson Spring Hill Baptist Church and later he became a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Tyler, TX. At Liberty he served as a Deacon until his health began to fail. Mr. Walker served with the Youth Sunday School Department, Brotherhood, and the Boys Little League. He was also a member of the Male Chorus. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and Rose City Civitan Club.

R.E. Walker met and married Avis Byrd Walker. They remained faithful to each other for 67 years. To this union three sons were born. Robert, Leslie, and Burt.

Mr. Walker is preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Lillie Pearl Walker. Four sisters; Annie Mae, Natie Mae, Brenda Joyce, and Edna Faye Wilson, and one brother; Raymond Walker.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Avis Walker; sons, Robert of Tyler, TX, Leslie (Saundra), and Burt (Lisa) both of Ft. Worth, TX. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Four sisters; Betty Brooks, Fannie McKellar, Francis Humber, and Doris Perry. One brother; Willie Walker (Marjorie), and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
