Sidney was born in Headrick, Oklahoma, November 15, 1926. Graduated High School at Ozark, Oklahoma and spent 26 years in the Air Force, retiring in 1970.

He was a long time member of the Church of Christ, serving as Deacon at Cordell, Oklahoma and DeSoto, Texas. He was very proud of being an Amateur Ham Radio Operator #WZ5D.

Sidney was preceded in death by his parents Sidney Douglas and Artie Mae Stroup, five sisters and precious daughter Diane Frey.

Sidney is survived by his wife of 72 years, Jane Stroup, Grandson and Guardian Thomas Meijer and wonderful wife Betty, Grandsons Daniel Hendryx and wife Andrea, Lance Hendryx and wife Lisa, and Steve Bates and wife Donna. Six Great Grandchildren; Brittnei Strom, Alicyn, Drake and Ryan Hendryx, Jacob Meijer and Louren Anderson as well as Six Great Great Grandchildren.

Graveside Services, with Military Honors, will be held in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. on Monday - October 19, 2020 Brother Michael Elrod officiating.
