Adalene Mae Schlueter, the daughter of William and Ella (Peters) Freitag, was born on January 31, 1936 on a farm near Byron, Nebraska. She passed away on December 1, 2020 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 10 months, 1 day.

Adalene attended Lone Star Country School and was a 1953 graduate of Byron High School and attended Fairbury Junior College. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church rural Byron. She was baptized on February 16, 1936 by Pastor Hoefer on the family farm and was confirmed on April 2, 1950 by Pastor Krause at St. Peter Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to Arlen Fritz Schlueter on April 1, 1956 at St. Peter Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with 4 children.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Chairman of the Superior Public Library Board and Secretary of the Church Council. Adalene taught in a country school for several years before being employed as an assistant Librarian in the Superior Junior and Senior High School for 16 years. She subbed as a para in the Superior schools and taught Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed quilting and was a seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Ella and her brothers Marvin, Orin and Verdell and sisters in law, Hildreth and Deanna Freitag.

Survivors include her husband Arlen of Superior; her children Valarie (Bryan) Bard of Hardy; Monica (Paul) Hull of Goodyear, Arizona; Lindley (Melanie) Schlueter of Geneva; and Shelly (James) Scott of Broken Bow; 7 grandchildren: Derek and wife Gianni Hull, Brittanie Schlueter, Krisha Scott, Jacy Schlueter, Alec Schlueter, Kya Scott and Kailyn Scott and one great-grandchild, Kaylie Schlueter; sister Fern (Gene) Wittke of Byron, sisters-in-law Anita Freitag of Twin Falls, Idaho and Leora Freitag of Byron, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
