Joan Uvolene Turner, age 90, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 due to Covid-19. She was born November 18, 1930 north of Leedey, Oklahoma to Gaither Elvernest and Millie Mae (Leonard) Bishop. Joan attended Camargo School and graduated with the class of 1948. When she was 13 years old in 1943, her twin sisters, Sandra Faye and Donna Kaye Bishop arrived. Three years later in 1946 her brother Terry Lee Bishop joined the family. In 1950, Joan married Gordon Meade Turner and they made their home near San Francisco, CA. Four children were born to this union: Gordon Michael Turner, Robert Wayne Turner, Gregory Patrick Turner, and Joanne Kathleen Turner. Joan enjoyed travelling, gardening, and was an expert homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon Turner (1968); sister, Sandra Bishop Clem-Burtis; and son, Robert Turner. She is survived by her children, Michael Turner and wife Wendy, Greg Turner and wife Bonnie, and Jo Persons and husband John; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Donna Hays and husband Oran; brother Terry Bishop and Brenda Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 3pm-5pm Friday at Bill Merritt Funeral Service, Bethany. Graveside services will be 1pm Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Riley Cemetery, Lenora, OK. (Dewey County)
