DEATH: GORDO | Minnie Z. Free, age 92, of Gordo, died July 11, 2105, at Heritage Health Care. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Free, Rev. Brannon Pinion, and Rev. Hershel Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memorial Gardens with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services and immediately following the service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Chester Free; grandson, Tony Free; parents; and brother, Edward Zeanah. Survivors include her sons, Leon Free of Vista, Calif., Harrell Free (Margie) of Gordo, Ala., and Travis Free (Glenda) of Dothan, Ala.; grandchildren, Tim Free (Jennifer) of Gordo, Ala., Brian Free of Vista, Calif, Kimberly Kaye "KK" Gorland (Michael) of Dothan, Ala., and Jamie Lavon Dameron (Donavon) of Wellsburg, W. Va.; great-grandchildren, Anthony Free (Danielle) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Nicholas Traywick and Carson Traywick of Gordo, Ala, Ryan Noviski, Bailey Dameron, Donavon Dameron, Jr., and Aaron Dameron, all of Wellsburg, W. Va.; and great-great grandchild, Sarah Jane Free of Tuscaloosa, Ala. Mrs. Free was born December 24, 1922, in Pickens County, Alabama, to the late Garrison Zeanah and Emma Hardy Zeanah. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a homemaker. Minnie was married to Brother Chester Free for 66 years and shared in his ministry throughout Pickens, Tuscaloosa, and surrounding counties. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Holly and Shirla Dyer, Curtis and Doris Jones, Wayne and Diane Burkhalter, Ricky and Diane Morris, Rev. Kenneth and Jackie Smith, staff of Heritage Health Care, and all other friends, which are too many to mention of Minnie and her family.
