Eddie Mae Lewis was born October 10, 1917 in Yoakum, TX from the union of Archie and Lucy Smith-Dow. She had two brothers, Sammy Dow and Grant Dow, Jr, and three sisters, Archie Marie McClure, Emma Barnes and Louise Dow Davis.

She met and married Joseph McKinney and together they had three children, Joseph, Jr, Wilmare and Violet Lenzy.

After the death of her husband she married Staton Lewis and they remained married until his death in 1998.

Mrs. Lewis worked with the San Antonio ISD for ten years where she retired.

Mrs. Lewis was a member of St. Paul Methodist. She was involved in the congregation and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

One of Mrs. Lewis talents including quilting. She was a member of the Greater San Antonio Quilt Guild. Her talents gained her recognition as her quilts were displayed at many key events worldwide. Her work was featured on numerous occasions in the Lady's Circle Patchwork Quilts Magazine and also at St. Philip's College, the Witte Museum and the Institute of Texan Cultures.

Mrs. Lewis was also a member of the Yoakum Alumni Association San Antonio Chapter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three children, her brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by one sibling; Louis Dow Davis and many grandchildren, great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Lewis is buried in Tippens Cemetery, Yoakum.
