A Veteran, he proudly served at the commissioning of the USS Alagash during World War II and served aboard for the duration of his enlistment.

Best known as proprietor of Lou's Amoco in West Brattleboro, he was a founding member of the Brattleboro Fire Department Dive Team and member of the West Brattleboro Fire Department for many years. As a Shriner and avid photographer he once served as an official photographer for the Maple Sugar Bowl Game. He always enjoyed new hobbies which included flying, woodworking, gardening and computers.

He was predeceased by his first wife Jeannette C. Levasseur, second wife Ann H. Levasseur, son Louis E. Levasseur "Odie" and siblings Richard Levasseur, Lucille Ethier, and Elaine McCarthy.
