Mrs. Betty Jane (Straley) Bender, 81, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Thursday, November 26,
2020 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born October 27, Rouzerville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Mary
Ellen (Higgins) Straley.
She and her husband of over 55 years, Richard E. Bender, were married on March 13, 1965. Mrs. Bender was employed as an assembler at Corning Glassworks, Greencastle, PA for over 20
years.
In addition to her husband,she is survived by one son, Ronald E. Bender of Waynesboro; one sister, Mary Anne Clugston of Mercersburg, PA; one brother, Robert Straley of Greencastle; and several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Lynn and Glenn; and
three sisters, Anne Mae, Violet, and Goldie “Jean”.
Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday,December 6, 2020 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S.
Broad Street, Waynesboro with Pastor John Weber officiating. Burial will following Burns Hill
Cemetery, Waynesboro.
There will be no public viewing, however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service,
Sunday, in the funeral home.
