Delbert and Wanda Parsons

DELBERT RAY PARSONS, 78, and WANDA LEE SWINNEY PARSONS, 77, of Bertrand, died Wednesday, November 25, 2020, in a vehicle accident near Sikeston, MO.

Delbert was born July 15, 1942, at Johnson County, AR, to the late John Wesley Parsons and Edith Aleen Ewing Parsons. He had lived in Bertrand a number of years where he was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was employed with Malone and Hyde in Sikeston and the Brown Shoe Company of Sikeston, from where he retired after a number of years of service. He was U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Wanda was born September 6, 1943, at Sikeston, to the late Leon Swinney and Ellen Otillia Peters Swinney, she had lived in Bertrand most of her life. She was a long time employed in the laundry department of Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston and was a member of the Sikeston Community Church.

On June 1, 1968, Delbert and Wanda were married and to this union was born two sons, John (Rhonda) Parsons of Sikeston and Charles Parsons of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Marlow and Joshua Parsons and one great granddaughter, Addison Marlow.

Delbert has two surviving sisters, Doris Rushing of St. Charles and Alma Jane Fewless of Nebraska. He was preceded in death by one sister, Velma Stewart.

Wanda has two surviving brothers, Edward Leon Swinney of Sikeston and Paul Etchel Swinney of Bertrand. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Maxine Lee.

Private family services for Delbert and Wanda will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield where Delbert will receive full military honors. Interment will follow.
