Dr. John M. Finney, 85, longtime Spokane and Idaho resident, died in Spokane, today.
Dr. Finney practiced medicine in Harrison, Idaho, from 1910 to 1924 ad operated the former Harrison Lakeview Hospital. He also originated the Harrison Old Timer’s picnic.
He was born in Marion County, Ohio on March 14, 1881 to John Monfort Finney and Grizella Jane Sharp and attended Cedarville College, Ohio and completed medical school at the University of Cincinnati in 1910.
He conducted a general practice of medicine Spokane from 1924 until his retirement in 1957.
He was a member of Manito Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Spokane author Gertrude E. Finney, at the home, W2946 Grandview Avenue; a daughter, Ruth F. Laughlin, Madison, Wisconsin; three sons, the Rev. John M. Finney Jr., Pasco; Dr. Joseph B. Finney and David S. Finney, both of Spokane; a brother, Joseph A. Finney, Zenia, Ohio, and a sister, Dr. Nancy Jane Finney, Yellow Springs, Ohio.
