Duane LeRoy Erickson was born on December 9, 1935 in rural Bruce, SD, the son of Gustav and Hilda (Holter) Erickson. He attended school in rural Bruce and liked playing basketball. He served in the U.S. Navy for a short time. He married Janice Schutte on June 29, 1961. He was later married to Linda Lichpenberger and the couple lived in Aurora, IL. Over the years, Duane lived in Grabill, IN, Fort Wayne, IN and later Brookings. He received training in Locksmithing and enjoyed officiating basketball games. He moved into Edgewood assisting living before being moved to Riverview Healthcare Community, in Flandreau.
He is survived his nieces, nephews and cousins.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda, two brothers, Kenneth and Wilbur, and four sisters, Marcella, Vivian, Viola, and Delores.
