He was born November 28, 1941 in Caldwell County to the late Amos Thomas Watson and Frances Louise Potts.
He was also preceded by his sister, Linda Kay Watson in 2007.
He was a Army Veteran, a career electrician and retired from Lincoln County Building Inspection, taught preparatory classes for electrical curriculum at Wilkes Community College and a member of American Legion Post 48.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Watson; son, Darin (Daryl) Watson and wife, Daryl; step-daughter, Carmine Willis; two step-grandchildren, Kolleen Willis and Raegan Willis; brother, Rickey Watson.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 4, 2019 in the Bass-Smith Chapel in Hickory with the Rev. Harold Whitener officiating.
American Legion Post 48 will provide military honors.
