Carroll “Cat” Lee Ammons, 83, of Blacksville, WV died Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at his residence.
He was born July 27, 1937, a son of the late A. Z. “Jeff” Ammons and Linnie McCord Ammons of Pentress.
Mr. Ammons served as the Mayor of Blacksville in the 1980’s, was past president of the Blacksville Ambulance Service, past member and past president of the Clay Battelle Health Services Association, and a past member of the Clay Battelle Public Service District. He was a 50-year member of the Littleton Lodge #131, AF & AM. He was retired from Consolidated Coal Company in 1995 after many years of serving as a salary employee.
Surviving are his loving wife, JoAnn Ammons to whom he had been married for 39 years; a son Jeffrey David Ammons and his wife Tonya and a granddaughter, Aurora Ammons of Morgantown; two sisters, Peg Tennant of Daybrook and Lorene Priest of Gainesville, VA; two step-sons, Jim Osborne of Morgantown and Pete (Lisa) Osborne & step-grandson, Wyatt Osborne of Bruceton Mills; the best neighbor in the world, Kate Fickey, and several nieces and nephews and great & great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Donzil Ammons, Ronald Ammons, and Claire Ammons; and three sisters, Isabele Walls, Marilyn Long, and Glenda Long.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at the Olive Cemetery at Pentress with Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. The Littleton Lodge #131 will perform masonic graveside rites. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery.
The Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville is in charge of arrangements.
