Note rec'd 4/1/2023: the bio for Lennie says "Lennie and Knute married 14 Mar 1915 in Oregon", but I don't find a marriage record for Lennie and Knute at all. There *IS* a 1915 Medford Oregon marriage record for Lennie, but it corresponds to a spouse Edward Francis Doherty--see https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/61677/images/61677_302022005610_0332-01514?pId=120435958 and in the Oregon marriages index https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/5193/images/33133_257654-00167?pId=161083 (and the corresponding entry for Lennie, under "Holcomb".
It's clear that Lennie Holcomb and Knute Ahlin were at least together, even if we find no marriage record: in the 1940 census they were at the same address, though on different pages of the census (she appears to be on one of the 'catchup' sheets at the end, but both are at the same address and residence-visited#); they're together in 1946 and 1948 city directories, and appear to be together in his 1942 WW2 draft reg ("LL"), but in the 1950 census she's marked as divorced, and of course her findagrave memorial lists her surname as Ahlin.
I suspect, in the absence of specific sources, that they either married in California or perhaps not at all in the 1930s to be together by 1940. Contributor: Brent Sweeny (47536003) • [email protected]
