Annie A died in 1900 and her husband Lewis Cass put the small oblisk stone on her grave. L C died in 1950 and soon after the funeral the older kids called a stone company to get a duplicate made to match, and be placed on the grave of L C. The spelling Lewis is the entry by his mother in the family Bible. His death certificate was changed to Louis in order to collect on an insurance policy.
L C and Annie had 15 children, and she died in August after the 15th child was born 17 July 1900.
A man named Andrew Stamp lived near and died from
pneumonia while his wife Laura was pregnant with their
first child; whose name is Charles Turner Stamp.
Later, L C and Laura Carter Stamp married; he with 10
living children and her with one; then they had 7 more,
so mine, yours and ours in the family.
L C died in Ft. Worth, Texas.
The children from the marriage of Laura and L C decided
that they would throw the old marker on Annie's grave
away and ordered a granite double with both names
engraved thereon; BUT this did not set well with the
older kids so they said, "You better not throw momma's
original stone away and we have already ordered dad
a matching stone." So it was decided to place all of the stones upon the two graves.
The group picture of the children was taken June 1944 at the home of L C Kemp. Front row: Willie, Ellis Ray, Carl & Ross. Middle row: Charles T Stamp, Edna 'Myrtle', Annie, & Rosa. Back row: Tom & Elbert (Lady on back row is wife of Elbert, Minnie)
