James Maywood Burleson
Funeral service for James Maywood Burleson, 79, Route 1, Ninnekah, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the First United Methodist Church, Rush Springs, with Rev. Gary Graham officiating.
Mr. Burleson was born Feb. 2,, 1895, in Lemara County, Texas. He and Miss Thelma Ruth Bryarly were married in Chickasha on March 30, 1918.
Mr. Burleson was a rancher and farmer all of this life. He lived in and around Rush Springs where he was reared until he moved south of Ninnekah in 1926.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rush Springs. He was a member of the administrative board of the church for a number of years. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and Farmers Union. He was WKY Farmer of the Month in July, 1967. He was Farm Bureau Farmer of the Year in 1967. He was the last of a family of eight children.
He died Thursday at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Ruth, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Hill of San Diego, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
