Leslie "Sug" Nottingham, 84, Monrovia, Kansas, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007.

A con-celebrated Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at St. Ann's Church, Effingham, Kan. with Rev. Benjamin Tremmel, OSB, as principal celebrant. Interment will follow in Monrovia Cemetery, east of Effingham. A vigil service and parish and Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2 in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 9 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Ann's Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Leslie was born Nov. 28, 1922. in Willis, Kan., the son of Earl Haynes and Birdie Geiger Nottingham. He attended Monrovia Grade School, graduating from Atchison County Community High School, Effingham, Kan., where he lettered in track and earned the State FFA Degree in 1942.

He and the former Barbara J. Yocum were united in marriage on July 27, 1945, at St. Benedict's Church, Atchison, Kan. Mrs. Nottingham preceded him in death on May 19, 2005.

Leslie was engaged in farming all of his life, additionally he served as a machinist and was employed with Midwest Grain Products Co., Page Airways and served as a manager at the Atchison Underground Storage until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Ann's Church, Effingham, Kan., was a past president of the St. Ann's Parish Council, was a member of the Monrovia Cemetery Board and was a member of Council No. 10321 of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Bopp, Weston, Mo., Kathy Swann, Topeka, Kan., Diane Heerman, Manhattan, Kan.; five sons, David, Olathe, Kansas, Michael, Schertz, Texas, Stephen, Kansas City, MO., John, Ozawkie, Kansas, Paul, Kansas City, Kansas; one sister, Evelyn Gore, Atchison, Kansas; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
