Samuel Lawrence Wickberg, age 74, died from complications of a stroke on November 10, 2020, at his home in Grants Pass, Oregon.

He was born on December 30, 1945, Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Eric W. Wickberg and Thelma Joli Wickberg. He lived in Grants Pass most of his life and attended Grants Pass High School. On June 12, 1965, he married June Martin. They met as teenagers and were married for 55 years.

Sam worked for Southwest Forest Industries (formerly VanPly) for 37 years. He was well respected as a millwright and liked his coworkers. He loved hanging out on his 11 acres of forested property and enjoyed hiking and camping in Eastern Oregon before an illness left him paraplegic for the last 15 years. He lived life well from his wheelchair and was admired for his inventiveness and independence.

In addition to his wife, June, he is survived by his daughter Kay Armas (Robert) and his son Sam A. Wickberg (Nichole); eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons; and his sister Aileen Jordan.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Eric and Thelma Wickberg; and his brother Donnie Wickberg.

Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements. Due to Covid restrictions, the family held a private memorial service with interment at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
