Pastor Alan C. Freed officiated at funeral services for Conrad Johan Jul Ellison on Saturday, March 14, 1963, at the North LaMoure Church.
Pastor Lawrence Rydquist of Valley City, accompanied by the church organist, Mrs. Harvey Haugen, sang two songs, “Land of Pure Delight’ and “Jesus Savior, Pilot Me.”
The honorary pallbearers were: John Sand, John Hayfield, Jens Jensen, Nels Jensen, John Horkman, Emil Holub, Frank Holub and Hans Hanson.
The pallbearers were: Hjalmer Ellison, Carlton Ellison, Olaf Belling, Marlyn Hanson, Chris Bjone and Hjalmer Jensen.
Conrad Johan Jul Ellison was born to Jens and Karen Ellison on February 13, 1879 at Nesne, Helgoland, Norway, and passed away on March 11, 1964, at Mercy Hospital.
He was baptized in the parish Lutheran Church and emigrated as an infant, with his parents to America.
They first came to Horace, N. Dak., and two years later moved to the Fort Ransom area.
He was confirmed in the Stiklestad Church at Fort Ransom,
He was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Smedshammer on August 11, 1906, at her parent’s home in Litchville Township.
To this union were born three children: Bessie, Walter and a son who died at birth.
They farmed in Black Loam Township until 1953 when they moved to Hastings, N. Dak.
Preceding him in death in April, 1960, were his wife, Bertha, his son Walter and the infant son.
His parents, two brothers, Peter of Grand Rapids, N. Dak., Helmer of Seattle, Wash., two sisters, Randine (Mrs. August Berg) and Lise (Mrs. Marcus Bergh) of LaMoure.
He is survived by his daughter, Bessie (Mrs. Oscar Jenson); three grandchildren: Beverly (Mrs. Duane) Nelson, Julie and Barrry Ellison and one great-grandson, a daughter-in-law, now Mrs. Harvey Adams, all of Valley City; one sister, Cora (Mrs. Marten Peterson) of West Kelso, Wash.; two brothers, Alfred of Leonard, N. Dak., and Christ of Hastings, N. Dak.; Edmund Huotari of Fargo, N. Dak., who made his home with the Ellisons for many years and several nieces and nephews.
