Anthony "Tony" Earl Phillips, 65, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away November 7, 2020, peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 8, 1955, to Earl H. and Ann K. (Phelps) Phillips.

He worked at Berry Plastics for 32 years and was the first employee to receive a journeyman certificate in Building Maintenance Technology Millwright. He devoted his life to teaching shooting sports safety. He was a Vanderburgh County 4-H youth shooting sports instructor, an Indiana Hunters Education Association volunteer teacher, and was Volunteer Teacher of the Year for the state of Indiana in 2020. He also was the chair of the hunters safety program at the Westside Sportsman Club. Tony was of Christian faith and was a former Sunday school superintendent. He was an activities team member at Berry Plastics and conducted the Earth Day presentations for EVSC schools for 10 years. He received his associates degree in heating ventilation and air. Tony had many other accomplishments during his life. He was an avid outdoorsman and master craftsman. His hobbies included hunting, woodworking, and fishing. Music was an inspirational part of Tony's life. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family and was a devoted family man.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Caroline J. (Blondin) Phillips; his mother, Ann K. (Phelps) Phillips; his four children, Jennifer Sheldon, Gabriel Phillips (Alana), Jeffrey Phillips, and Andrew Phillips; 18 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Debra Beck (Alan), Marilyn Dix (Dan); and brother, Michael Phillps.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Earl H. Phillips and his grandson, Joseph L. Holbrook.

Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711. A private celebration of Tony's life will be held with Randy Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery. Published in Courier Press from Nov. 8, to Nov.10, 2020.
