A son of Hamilton G. and Ola A. (Trafser) Biles, he married Irene Brawner at Champaign, Illinois, July 1, 1946. The couple had one son, Rober Biles, Greenville, North Carolina. A veteran of WWII, he served with the U.S. Army in Europe, Africa and the Asiatic Palcific, and was a recipient of six service medals. He became a Champaign Police Officer, May 15, 1947 and retired as a police lieutenant May 16, 1967.
