With hours and hours of research, this is what I have found that James and Nancy (Hunt) Cox was William Cox's, parents.
When William was born in 1770, James (14) and Nancy (15). I believe since they were so very young they lived with James's parents, John and Elizabeth (Goad) Cox for several years. That is why some records indicate that John and Elizabeth are William's parents.
Some records indicate that Nancy died at child birth in 1770 and that John died in 1772. But with further research I believe that to be false. I found that James and Nancy were married in 1772, Crooked Creek, Grayson, Virginia, 2 years after William was born, when they were older, living a long life together. I found no other children were born to them.

John was born, August 1724, North Farnham Parish, Middlesex, Virginia.

He was also in the Military.

Died December 31, 1799, Burks Fork, Floyd, Virginia.
