Boots proudly served in the US Marines 1st Division during the Korean War as a Navy Corpsman. He served in the Battle Of The Chosin Reservoir in December 1950. He was a Hobart resident for 27 years and moved to Florida for 18 years, returned to the Washington and Vincennes area of Indiana for 8 years and back to Hobart in 2007 until present. Boots was a retired automobile and mobile home salesman. Boots was a former Hobart Democratic City Chairman and was a former member of the Phi Delts.
He is survived by 2 daughters; Patricia "Trish" (Thomas) Miller of Washington, IN and Elaine "Lainie" (Mark) Haller of Hobart; 5 Grandchildren Brandon Miller, Heather Haller, Courtney (Jason) (nee Miller) Streicher, Whitney (Sean) (nee Miller) Threewits and Scott (Lauren) Haller; 2 Great Grandchildren Zachary Miller and Anna Streicher.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Lorena, son Ralf I. Saunders, his parents and 1 sister.
Funeral Services with military honors will be held at 3:00 pm followed by visitation from 4-7 pm Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Gary Nagy officiating. The burial will be private.
