Paul Eugene McKinney was born July 18, 1939 in rural Macksburg, Iowa and was the son of Faye (Allsop) and Percy C. McKinney. He graduated from Masksburg High School in May 1958. Paul was baptized at the First United Methodist Church in Creston on April 14, 1963.

On June 14, 1959, Paul married Muriel E. Tuttle and they had three children; Robin born 1961, Misty born 1962 and Troy born 1963. Paul and Muriel divorced in 1979. Paul also had another son Danny Luckinbill born 1962.

After graduation, Paul went to work for Center Milk Company in Creston. In 1962, he started work at Creston Purolator for 14 years. In 1964, the McKinney family bought a farm near Diagonal, where he continued to work for Purolator and farmed. Paul was also a school bus driver for the Diagonal Community School District for 29 years and the Mount Ayr School District for 5 years. Paul did custom baling for many years. He was a very hard worker and never would hesitate to help someone. He never knew a stranger!

Paul sold the farm before moving to Mount Ayr.

In October of 2010, Paul met the love of his life, Mary Williamson. At the time, he inherited a son Brian Williamson (friend Stacey), daughter Brandi Williamson (significant other Sean) and granddaughter Paige Smith. Paul's dream was to go to Texas to get away from the cold Iowa winters. Paul and Mary began going to Pharr, Texas in 2011 and continued going until his passing. They made many good friends down in Texas and spent many days dancing. While south, they would travel to many different areas of Texas and would cross the border into Progresso, Mexico. They simply had the time of their life together.

Paul and Mary would go on many tractor rides together throughout the surrounding counties. You would sometimes see him with his great-grandchildren riding along. His favorite tractor was "anything" John Deere!

Paul passed away, Sunday, July 2, 2017 in rural, Union County.

Paul is survived by his significant other Mary Williamson of Mount Ayr; daughter Robin (David) Stuva of Auburn, Illinois; daughter Misty Walkup (special friend Jeff Spencer) of Leon; son Troy McKinney of Winterset; son-in-law Bobby Walkup; grandson Justin (Kerry) Stuva of Le Roy, Illinois; granddaughter Whitney (Levi) Chesher of Bloomington, Illinois; granddaughter Tory (Chris) Parker of Creston; grandson Shaun Walkup of Diagonal; grandson Josh McKinney of Winterset; granddaughter Brooklyn McKinney (her mother Erin Dodge) of Creston; great-grandchildren, Ryer and Rogan Parker of Creston, Wesley and Chloe McKinney of Winterset, Trapper Stuva of Le Roy, Illinois; sister Maurine Schmidt of Lorimor; many other relatives and friends.
