He was born April 19, 1933 in Spencer County, Kentucky, son of George W. and Eula Virginia Gallion Humes.
Henry worked as a local driver for the old Belknap Hardware Company, served in the U.S. Army and as a volunteer firefighter for 20 years for Highview Fire Department and was a member of Fisherville Baptist Church and Buechel Masonic Lodge #896 F&AM. He was a loving father and husband. A self-described "jack of all trades and master of none", Henry loved working in his garage and tinkering with his tractors.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stanley Humes and is survived by his wife, Nancy Bigelow Humes; children, John S. Humes (Traci), Chet Humes (Joanna), Ted Humes. Vicki Bowman (Bob), Hank Barnes and Tammy Dyer; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
His funeral is 12pm Friday, April 14, 2023 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with burial in Chenoweth Run Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8pm Thursday and after 9am Friday until the time of the service.
