"Harvey H Baker, brother of the late E. W. Baker, of Davenport, passed away at 9:30 o'clock Saturday night at Bettendorf, where he had been living for about a month. Heart disease was the fatal ailment. Mr. Baker was a native of Coxsackie, N.Y., and was born May 21, 1837. He was an engineer by occupation and for many years was employed by the Rock Island railway company. Recently he was connected with the work on the Hennepin canal. His home was in Davenport for a long time. His wife and two sons and one daughter survive him. One of the sons is Howard A. Baker, of Kenosha, Wis., and the other son and the daughter are Edwin L. Baker and Fannie C. Baker, both of Davenport."
He was a resident of Davenport, Iowa by 1874, according to a Grecian Lodge Mason Membership card where he joined in June of 1865. Said card verifies, birth date and place, death date and place and occupation. In the 1900 census, he is listed in Harter Township, Clay County, Illinois. Bettendorf was apparently a section of Davenport, IA. An obituary also appeared in the Kenosha News, Kenosha, Wisconsin on Monday, January 04, 1904, wherein it stated he additionally worked as an engineer at the Rockford Hoisery in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
