Mr. Barnette was born January 23, 1947, in Moncks Corner, SC, a son of Thomas Edward Barnette and Elizabeth Wright Barnette. He was a former barber at Crosby's Barber Shop in Charleston, and he was also a former police officer for the Charleston City Police Department. Prior to his final career serving as Chief of Police in Bonneau, Mr. Barnette was a truck driver for the Charlotte Observer. He enjoyed cooking and reading Western novels, but he especially loved raising his goats, horseback riding, and hunting. Mr. Barnette was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Thornberry, and a brother, Allen Barnette.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Wilson Barnette; a son, Thomas J. "A.J." Barnette of Macedonia; and two grandchildren, Harper and Kayson.
