Maxine L Clinton was born at Denison, Iowa October 31, 1926, the daughter of Carl and Hattie Groth Slater. She was raised in Denison where she was graduated from high school with the class of 1945. On August 30, 1947, Maxine was united in marriage with Joseph R Clinton at Westside, Iowa. Their union was blessed with five children: Rick, Randy, Reggy, Jay and Jodi. They made their home on a farm east of Denison where Maxine was a busy farm wife and homemaker. In 1962 Joe's job with Farmland transferred him to Iowa Falls, Iowa where they resided until returning to Denison in 1966.

After returning to Denison, Maxine was a long time volunteer with the Denison Community Chest and for a time she and Joe enjoyed raising dachshund dogs. In their spare time Joe and Maxine enjoyed camping and spending time at their home in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Joe died November 12, 1988 and Maxine continued to reside at her home in Denison.

Maxine's greatest enjoyment in life was caring for and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
