William K. Brooks, aged about 59 years, for 10 years road supervisor for Pencader hundred, died at his home Friday night as the result of a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Brooks had a slight paralytic stroke last summer, but had apparently recovered. On Friday morning he was apparently in unusually good health and left his home to attend some road work at the bridge near Glasgow. It was while attending to this work that he was stricken and was later found unconscious by the Rev. John MacMurray, of Head of Christina Church who happened to pass there in his automobile. Mr. MacMurray got the stricken man in his car and took him to his home in Glasgow, where he died that night.
Mr. Brooks has been an active Republican for many years and was formerly tax collector for the hundred. He also served as school clerk of his district for years. Mr. Brooks was married about two years ago and is survived by his wife. He had lived in the vicinity of Glasgow all his life. Former Representative W. C. Brooks, also of Glasgow, is a cousin of the deceased. The funeral was held at 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon with services at the house and interment at St. James cemetery, Stanton.
