Sanford Wilson Died Last Eve. Grafton Weekly Sentinel. Grafton, WV. Thurs., May 20, 1909.
Excerpt -- Daily - Sentinel, Wednesday -- Another venerable resident of Grafton has gone to his reward in the person of Sanford William Wilson, who passed away Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock after an illness of a complication of maladies incident to one of his advanced years. Sanford William Wilson was born in Mononglaia County on October 12, 1838, and at the hour of his death he had reached the age of 70 years, and 7 months, He was married twice and raised a useful family of children. His first wife was of Monongalia, and his last wife, who survives him, was Miss Abbie Trickett, of Preston County, to who he was united in 1879. The children surviving are Mrs. Robert Costolo, of Farmington; Mrs. Sam Dias, of Appomattox, Va.; Mrs. Effie Straight, and Miss. Clara Wilson, of near Barracksville. He had been a member of the Christian Church for the past 30 years and a resident of Grafton for the past 24 years. During former years he served as a member of city council here. The funeral will take place from his late residence on Bluemont St. on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. C. L. Trawin, pastor of the First Baptist Church in charge and the Order of Red Men, of which he was a highly respected member. Interment will be in Bluemont Cemetery.
