Anders Gustaf Karlsson was born on the farm Rud in Tveta, Saffle, Varmland, Sweden to Karl Gustav Andersson and Gustava Olofsdotter. After his parents died, he emigrated to the United States in 1899 along with his sister Augusta. They travelled to Alexandria MN to join their brother Johan Carlson. He worked the railroads on their way to Minnesota and then was a logger in northern Minnesota. He met Karin Olivia (Carrie) Halvorsdotter Findring and they married in Grafton, Walsh County, ND. They were pioneer settlers in the Thief River Falls area. They moved to Saint Paul in the early 1960s. They had 4 children Ellen Theria Larson 1911-1990, Cora Carlson 1912-1913, Melvin Tilford Carlson 1913-1993, and Harry Clifford Carlson 1920-2005.
