Mr. Appleby was retired from the Gaddie-Shamrock Quarry, where he was employed for 22 years as a rock crusher. He was a native of Casey County, KY, and a resident of Adair County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the patriarch of a respected South Central Kentucky, family with deep roots and many friends, in Casey & Adair Counties and elsewhere.. He was the son of the late Chester & Lois Glover Appleby. His wife of 43 years, Janice Thompson Appleby, survives. He leaves seven direct living descendants.

Frank Appleby, age 67 of the Sparksville Community in Adair Co., KY died Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 1pmCT, at the University of KY Medical Center in Lexington, KY after a sudden illness.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Elbert Hadley and Bro. Jimmy Bunch the officiating clergy. The family request visiting after 3:30pmCT, on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold Appleby and James Appleby

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janice Thompson Appleby, of Fairplay, KY, and the following:
One son: Chris Appleby and wife Jennifer of Columbia, KY

One daughter: Angel Grider and husband Adam of Sparksville, KY

Five grandchildren: Samantha Appleby, Zachary Appleby, Austin Kinnett, Jayden Foster, Landyon Grider

Four sisters Anna Appleby of Campbellsville, KY; Phyllis (Harley) Richie of Campbellsville, KY; Emma (Leeland) Sanders of Campbellsville, KY; and Wanda (Mark) Wilson of Campbellsville, KY

Two brothers: Allen Appleby of Liberty, KY; and Henry (Debbie) Appleby of Campbellsville, KY

Several nieces and nephew

A host of other relatives and friends

And by his beloved dog, Abby
