The son of Adam & Lucetta (Kalbach or Royerbauch - both reported) Weik, in 1860 he was living with his family in Cornwall, Lebanon County.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted at the stated age of twenty in Lebanon August 5, 1862, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 15 as a private with Co. K, 127th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 29, 1863. All of his military records spell his surname "Weik."

He married Sarah Blottenberger and fathered Ida Virginia (b. 11/02/67 - married Franklin Nagle), Thomas P. (b. 04/19/70, d. 01/19/82), and Flora E. (b. @1873 - married Albert Gettle). He died in the Lebanon Sanitarium from "chronic valvular endocarditis" with "acute dilatation [of the] heart" a contributing factor.

The spelling of his surname varies with the source, and he wasn't ever buried with certainty in that regard. As seen here, he has two gravestones, one spelling his surname "Weik" and the other, "Wike." Moreover, he is in the 1860 census as "Wike," but his death certificate and obituaries have "Weik."
