JoAnn Marie Austin was born at home on August 31, 1935, to the late Walter and Fredricka Regina (Stauss) Austin. She was married to Patrick Driscoll on June 10, 1950 until 1978. She then married Richard Hendrickson from 1980 to 1984. Afterwards, she was reunited in marriage to Patrick in 1991 until her death. During her life she worked in many different restaurants as a waitress and as a daycare provider. She was very proud of being the first woman elected to the Alvarado City Council. JoAnn was very giving and kind, always opening the door to all in need. Her goal was to make one person smile every day. Her handmade gifts were cherished by many but she considered her greatest legacy to be her 9 children.
