Kenneth C. Graney, age 87, of Oregon, passed away on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007. Kenneth was born on May 3, 1920, in Ellenboro Township, on his home farm where he was raised, the son of George and Ethel (Davies) Graney. He attended Dry Hollow Rural School and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1937. After graduating, Kenneth helped his father on his farm, especially raising Purebred Spotted Poland China hogs, which were shown at the State and Country fairs and sold for breeding stock. His father died in 1942, and he continued to run the family farm with his mother and sister. In the mid 1940s, Kenneth was instrumental in forming the Wisconsin S.P.C Association, which is still active today. He married Eileen Broihahn in 1945, and moved south of Lancaster to a larger farm. He held positions on the rural school boards and later on the Lancaster community school board. Kenneth joined the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 186 in 1952, and held various offices. He was also a member of Grand Encampment and served several terms as a state treasurer. After farming they started a business of selling automotive supplies to services stations. In 1978, they built a new home in Lancaster, right next door to some old friends who had liked interests, went to the same church, and loved to spend the evenings playing cards. His life long friends, Elton and Dorothy, also lived on the same block. After retirement, Ken discovered his love for wood working. Over a period of about fifteen years, he made many beautiful pieces of furniture, including a six piece cherry bedroom set. All the children and grandchildren have pieces of his work. Ken loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Ken and Eileen enjoyed traveling, especially to North Carolina, where Linda lives, and the beautiful Smokey Mountains. In 2002, they moved to Oregon. He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen; three children, Ronald (Sue) Graney of Oregon, Linda Graney of Ashville, N.C., Kathleen (Kim) Manner of Fitchburg; three grandchildren, Karen (Daniel) McKinney of Elkhorn, Kevin (Anne) Graney of Cleveland, Ohio, and Kara Graney of Minneapolis, Minn.; sisters, JoAnn (John) Bolender of Seattle, Wash. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wilburn; and sister-in-law, Laura Graney. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 29, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the PEOPLES UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 103 Alpine Road, Oregon. Wis., with Rev. Jon Claude Bartlett presiding. A Memorial Service will also be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at 1 p.m. at LANCASTER UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Lancaster, with a visitation one hour prior to service at church, with Rev. Barbara Cook presiding. A Odd Fellow service will be held prior to the memorial service. From you, I receive To you, I give Together we share And from this we live
