Born on November 13, 1928 to the late Bernard Christ and Geraldine Felicity (Claywell) Alfert and proceeded in death by her two sisters Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Buchholz and Marilyn Ann Ries.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph Frank Zieger for 46 years. Cherished mother of Joseph Zieger (Robin), Jeanne (Christopher) Smith, James Zieger (Joni), John Zieger (Justine).

Adored grandmother of the late Joseph Zieger, April (Richard) Strelinger, John (Toni) Gallia, Gabriel Gallia, Jessica (Derek) Edwards, Jaime (Bryan) Hurt, James Zieger, Julia (Josh) Hoeft, Jaclyn Zieger and Jared Zieger.

Proud Great Grandmother to William Strelinger, Brady Edwards, Enzo and Rocco Gallia, Libby Hoeft, Damian and Braden Barker.

Joan was a loving aunt, cousin, in-law and friend to many.

She loved music, playing the saxophone in her youth and the piano all her life. She enjoyed all sports, card games, board games and always loved a good joke or two. She will be fondly remembered by all of the life lessons and family fun that she shared with those she loved. Joan passed peacefully and prayerfully with all her children by her bedside.
