November 22, 1813, Peggy Baugh and Solomon Young married in Pulaski County KY. Their marriage bond was posted by their fathers, Henry Baugh and Michael Young, both Revolutionary War soldiers. When Michael Young applied for a military pension in 1830, Michael Young stated he was destitute and that he and his wife were old and sickly. They had lived with their son Solomon Young for about 10 years. Peggy Baugh Young, Solomon’s wife would have had a large role as a caregiver for her elderly in-laws. She was also the mother of 11 children. Widowed in 1846 at the age of 47, she was the head of the household in the 1850 and 1860 census, when the household was engaged in farming.
By 1870 she was living with her son Ephraim Young and family in Mt. GilIiad District in Pulaski County KY. Peggy Baugh is not found in the 1880 Census. It is likely she died between the 1870 and 1880 censuses. Since she lived in Mt. Gilliad, it is also likely that she is buried in the Mt. Gilliad Cemetery where her husband Solomon Young was buried in 1843 and where sons Barney, Balus, Solimon and daughter Catherine Cline are also buried. It is a small rural cemetery that has not been cared for. Many of the stones are missing or have been damaged. There is no stone for Margaret “Peggy” Baugh.
