As with many ancestral ladies, little is known about Amanda beyond basic data and even that can be somewhat limited. Amanda was born about 1867 and passed away before 1900. She married James Allison Inglis on Feb. 8. 1883 at her mother's home in the Big Coon area of Jackson County, Alabama. Unfortunately, the marriage lasted less than 17 years, ending with her death sometime between 1896 (birth of her last son of record) and 1900, when she has disappeared from the record and her husband James remarries, to her sister Angeline. Family oral history tells that Amanda's family disapproved of Angeline marrying James, presumably so soon after Amanda's death, suggesting that she had died about 1899. Her final resting place is not known though several possibilities have been suggested, including the Inglish-Middleton Cemetery, one of several Matthews cemeteries, and Bryant Cemetery among others, all in Jackson County, Alabama.
