WILLIAM H. LOHR, M.D.

William H. Lohr, M.D. of Lebanon, died Wednesday, June 4, at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.

At his request, no services will be held. Huston-Jost Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

He was born Oct. 29, 1918, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of William and Helen (Reynolds) Lohr. He graduated from high school at Appleton, Wi9s. He was active in the Boys Scouts of America and was an Eagle Scout. He attended two years of college at Lawrence College and then entered the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he graduated in 1943.

Because of his background in physics, he was chosen to participate in the Manhattan Research Project. In 1945, he received a commendation from the War Department in appreciation of effective services for work essential to the production of the atomic bomb.

In 1947, he graduated from Northwest University Medical School and took an internship at cook County Hospital in Chicago.

IN 1946, he married Genie Stuesser. They moved to Wisconsin to his medical practice at Park Falls Clinic.

In 1951, he entered the U.S. Army Medical Corps. And served during the Korean War as a physician and surgeon for the Second Medical Battalion. He was relieved from active duty in 1953 after receiving with the Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal, Medical Badge and two o/s bars.

He then moved to Lebanon to start his practice and affiliation with Lebanon Community Hospital. He worked in the community of Lebanon for 42 years.

In 1955, he married Dori Wilma Lowry. She died in 1986.
